The second batch of near-zero carbon demonstration zones from CSG has passed review, marking the full completion of thirty-six such zones. It establishes an initial framework for a "near-zero carbon" implementation path, driven by evaluation standards, supported by advanced technologies, and encompassing a variety of types and scenarios.
The thirty-six demonstration zones are spread across five southern provinces and regions — Guangdong province, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Yunnan province, Guizhou province, and Hainan province — and cover five categories including production and office spaces, business exhibitions and social services. The application senarios vary, including office buildings, big data centers, pumped storage power stations and industrial parks. Twenty-five of the zones have earned carbon-neutral certification, accounting for nearly 70% of the total.
In early January, China Electricity Council approved the implementation of "The Carbon Emission Accounting and Evaluation of Near-Zero Carbon Parks" standard. Initiated by CSG, this standard pioneers the definition of zero-carbon, near-zero carbon, and low-carbon parks within the energy and power industry, unifying and standardizing the evaluation criteria for near-zero carbon parks. This will further promote the adoption of green electricity, green certificates, and advanced carbon reduction technologies and equipment.
